Does race have anything to do with this police shooting of an unarmed, retarded black man in Los Angeles?

Gang enforcement officers Allan Corrales and George Diego heard a loud noise while driving in their patrol car and turned around to see Washington. The officers said he was looking around suspiciously and manipulating something in his waist area.

When the officers tried to stop Washington to investigate, he quickly approached them and appeared to pull something from his waistband,...

There's no reason to believe race was a factor here.

If you watch the video you will hear that "mentally he functioned as a young boy...27 year old with the mindframe of a 12 year old".

Maybe it was the magic-gun theory.
The gun pulled itself and the police officer tried his utter best to wend it from the target, but the gun was too strong.

But hey, according to the NYPD, anything less than 42 gun shot wounds can't be considered racist, stupid or anything else other dan deserved. So, this is probably fine.

NYC paid a $3 million settlement in the Diallo case. Obviously, the city agreed that is was at least "stupid." The jury found that it did not rise to the level of criminal. In any case, your post indicates that you are probably unfamiliar with the facts of the case.

Lovelle Mixon's deadly assault on the police has been called a "murderous rampage" by several commentators.[16][17][18] It began at 1:08 p.m. PDT, March 21, 2009, after two motorcycle officers pulled over his burgundy 1995 Buick sedan for a traffic violation, in the 7400 block of MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland. After collecting Mixon's driver's license, Sergeant Dunakin became suspicious that the license was fake and signaled Officer Hege to arrest Mixon.[12][19]Witnesses say Mixon accessed a semi-automatic handgun and exited the vehicle, opening fire without warning. After both officers collapsed to the ground, he approached them and fired execution-style directly into their heads, then briefly remained standing over the bodies before fleeing on foot. Those who heard the gunshots say that Mixon fired approximately six rounds.[20] Police revealed that neither officer fired a shot.[21][22][23] Some witnesses called 911 and ran over to the stricken officers and started CPR. Sergeant Dunakin died at the scene. Officer Hege was mortally wounded, having been shot behind the left ear.

It could also be because he was autistic, or just because he made the wrong move and they had an excuse to open fire. If it was either you'd expect the police to lie about it. So it's difficult to know the truth. What's their overall record on shooting people in LA recently like? Are the people they shoot significantly more likely to be black relative to the population?

Yeah, I guess the police don't tend to shoot you if you live in Palos Verdes and walk around at night. But in this case it was the police who were the danger.
