It could be argued that this belongs in the spirituality section, but religious institutions in many parts of the developed world are struggling to keep their members from drifting away. Attendance in churches, synagogues, and mosques is slowly eroding as many people feel these institutions are less relevant to their lives than in generations past. There are many reasons for this, but I wonder what the future holds for them. Any thoughts?

Forcing views about religious beliefs being silly down kids throats in public schools is doing its job.

Between public schools, laws that make it illegal to put religious convictions into practice in public, as well as entertainment industry, it is amazing anyone still attends church.

Yes, this does belong in the Spirituality forum. My thoughts? I will simply quote some scripture and let you decide for yourself.

    2 Tim 4:3-5
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
    NKJV

    2 Tim 3:12-14
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
    NKJV

    2 Tim 3:1-5
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

People now have Big Brother to take care of them and science explains all of life's mysteries.

All of their needs have been met and questions answered. What possible place can God be for them in their lives?

As I said, mass brainwashing through the leaders and institutions that tell people what to believe.

But through science we can overcome all of our problems, most of which seem to have brought to us by science, like the burning of fossil fuels, creation of WMD's, computer hacking that threatens to cripple the industrialized world, etc., etc.

Say, has eugenics become popular again like it used to in science? Hitler had to go and spoil the party.
