Conceive an award. Award it. Acceptence speeches. Declination speeches. If it degenerates, so be it.

The T.S. Eliot Award 2009 goes to kmax87 for services to both utter bafflement and encrypted enlightenment, as far as we can make out.

The He Came Right Out Of The Blue Sky Award 2009 awarded to USArmyParatrooper for Being All He Can Be in a place where a whole lot of people are Being Something Else. Also special recognition for his constant willingness to lay down his RHP subscription in defence of his president.

The Doom and Gloom Award goes to zeeblebot for always finding the grim and sinister behind every sliver of encouraging economic news and for his unshakable faith that things will always get worse so long as Obama is in office.

The Indefatigability Award 2009 goes to whodey who carried the ball over 3,500 yards this season without his side scoring a single point that didn't get a yellow flag.

The Whispering Death Award 2009 goes to Melanerpes who, amidst a fragrant cloud of affability and measured disinterest, administers absolutely toxic and fatal reasonableness to debate after debate. Special mention should be made of his ability to do all this without contracting a Visible sh76 Second Groove whilst perching aloft and between us all with genial impartiality.

The Stoic award is hereby awarded to KazetNagorra for refusing to be drawn into flame wars no matter how many vicious attacks are leveled his way. After spending centuries holding their fingers in the dikes in the west and coping with German invasions from the east, the Dutch have sure learned how to turn the other cheek.

The Ultimate Copy and Paster award goes to zeeblebot, for displaying his copy-and-pasting skills with ultimate precision, and for showing how it is easy and pleasurable to use other people's ideas instead of creating your own. I would also like to point that zeeblebot has also showed us how wikipedia can be useful in the pursuit of information every time we're too lazy to do any actual research.

The That does it! I quit! award is hereby shared by Scriabin who had one too many run-ins with FMF and No1Marauder who could not stand to be around us right wing nuts and smug Eurotrash any more! But then could stand to be around us in the Sports forum and then in the Debates forum for a while; and now back to not being able to stand to be around us at all! Hmmpf!

The Now you see him, now you don't award is hereby awarded to Macswain for popping in once every couple of months to tear FMF a new one and annoy rwingett by stuffing some Ayn Rand in his face and then, just as quickly, riding off into the sunset, never to be heard from again... for the next few weeks.

    Generalissimo:

South American debater of the year 2009, for consistently representing our friends in South America on the debates forums.

Also, Most Improved Debater, with points that are increasingly hard for opponents to defend against, more strong pithy comments, and all-round improvement generally.

    Whodey:

Conservative debater of the year, because who else so consistently defends the right in virtually all issues, against parties, against liberals, against Obama, very consistent with great conviction.

    SH76:

Conservative in the middle of the year, makes those of us proud to argue for such various virtues as capitalism to have such conscientious people choose the right side of those issues and be able to claim the middle ground and the high ground.

    Wow!

Thank you for the nice award.

I humbly accept this honor. Along with the second groove award so graciously bestowed upon me by FMF (or something like that), I'll have to make room in the trophy cabinet.
