So, the funny part of this is, that the guy in the video was trying to make amends with his dress shop comment. But Dems are the party of women, aren't they?

Hey libboes - you were all (rightfully) outraged over Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" comment. Where's your outrage now? Where's your outrage that an older white male insulted the abilities of a very competent female? Where's your outrage that when that female appointed a black Representative to become the first black Senator from South Carolina, Democrats across the land decried the appointment as a "token black"?

Isn't your whole problem with conservatives really that you just want free stuff?

I totally agree Harpootlian's comments were inappropriate if indeed he meant "go back" to India and if he was making an anti-feminist comment with the reference to her parent's store which happens to be a dress shop. That said, this comment is nothing compared to Atkins remark concerning rape. It is nothing compared to Romney's comment about 47% of the American electorate. Politics is not religion. Obama is not the Pope. Democrates, including Obama make decisions with which I find fault. That said, the Republican party has been over run with ignorant religious fanatics. Intelligent Republicans are voting Democratic out of desperation. Sadly, when a Republican with a chance of garnering votes, Chris Christie, comes along, the GOP snubs him at their gathering! Amazing!

Which Democrat politicians called the appointment of the first black senator from South Carolina "token black"?

Dick Harpootlian's comment, "...send her (Nikki Haley) back to wherever
the hell she came from", seems aimed at the fact that Nikki Haley's the
daughter of Sikh immigrants from India. The 'go back to where you came
from' nativist American political trope has long been used against persons
from non-European immigrant families. Harpootlian's excuse that he meant
only to say that Nikki Haley should return to work in a 'dress store'
("women's work", eh?) seems at least mildly sexist.

That said, Dick Harpootlian's apparently nativist or sexist put-down of
Nikki Haley was less offensive than Todd Akin's comments on rape.

A convenient shifting of the goal posts. When someone talks about "Democrats" they usually mean elected officials of said party. You can find lots of racist drivel on this forum by self-identified racists like Eladar and KilgoreTrout, but that doesn't mean Republicans are racist.

I think people on both sides of the partisan fence get outraged a bit too much.

I agree - less offensive, but because it was directed at an individual - you don't think it was as harmful, or more harmful? Every right-thinking person in the world filleted Todd Akin; he is clearly so far outside the mainstream that he is a liability and can no longer serve the best interests of the party or the country. But you don't think that this tirade, and the glossing over of it by the liberal media, is potentially more harmful?

Rape is a much more serious issue than a politician losing an election and
thus having to change one's occupation. Todd Akin's comments were
directed against all women who have been or will be raped, which includes
many American women. If more people took Todd Akin seriously, more
women could be deterred from coming forward to report their rapes.

At a stretch, one could argue that the comment against Nikki Haley was
directed against all American politicians who come from non-European
(particularly Asian) immigrant families--which I find offensive. It might
help discourage some people from non-European immigrant families from
running for public office. That's bad, but I think it's less harmful than
helping to discourage women from reporting their rapes.

I suggest the real tokenism is among Democrats given their visceral reaction to blacks who stray from the plantation.

"" But Dems are the party of women, aren't they? ""

They are usually conceded to be the party of any person of color. When either of those dogmas are challenged, the reaction of the left is visceral.
Those rogues have to be made into chimeras.
