Looks like the high tax liberal states are going to sue Trump over having to actually pay their taxes instead of being subsidized by the other states to pay them.

    Hilarious!

Trump is just off the hook. He will make NFL teams pay for their own stadiums and force illegal immigrants to be deported according to federal law.

What's next, forcing Congressmen to go to jail for rape?

    Resist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The great proponent of "States Rights" now supports the Feds taxing people's State taxes.

    Hilarious.

EDIT: Are there 43 "liberal" States? That's how many have an income tax and people in all of them will have to pay Federal tax on money they already paid in taxes under the Republican plan. https://www.thebalance.com/states-without-an-income-tax-3193345

    The Fed taxing state taxes?

So you are all for the federal government subsidizing state taxes is what you mean.

Why should people be able to write off their state tax taxes from their federal tax?

I thought that increased taxes is what liberalism was all about. I'm sure these wonderful liberal high tax states use a progressive model so that only the rich suffer.

Do you even understand what a "subsidy" is?

Why should John Doe pay tax on money that he paid to the State? State and local taxes have been deductible from the Federal income tax since 1913. https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/RL32781.pdf

Why should I pay tax money on money that I have to pay for my utilities and insurance?

This is a Fed tax increase for 42-43 million taxpayers:

Thirty percent of tax filers itemize, rather than claiming the standard tax deduction, and 95 percent of them claimed a state and local tax deduction in 2014, according to the Tax Foundation. The same figures held for 2015, when 44.7 million tax filers claimed itemized deductions on their returns, according to IRS data.

    Well this is great then.

Since the US has a "progressive" tax code then only the rich will suffer.

If only that were true. In fact, tax incidence in the US is very mildly progressive. http://www.ctj.org/pdf/taxday2012.pdf

I doubt that analysis will hold true if this tax giveaway to the rich and corporations is actually enacted into law.

Surely the liberal states can fix their tax code so that only the evil rich have to pay high taxes.

    There, problem solved!

    Hey, moron,

As I've asked you time and again, how is it that you think these 'high tax liberal states' are being 'subsidized' by the other states, if they're already paying higher taxes?? Aren't they, in fact, subsidizing the states who think they should pay less tax than other states?

Having the federal government subsidize anything is having the other states pay for it.

Just does not seem right. Either fix your tax code in your given state to over tax the evil rich people or shut up and stop demanding the other states bail you out.

You and your right wing propagandists are ridiculous; the deduction for state and local taxes benefits taxpayers in every single State. It has done so for over a hundred years.

Who wants a deduction? I thought taxing the rich was the ultimate righteous act.

Why don't all the states make their tax policies uber progressive and tax the poo out of all the rich folk?

So at what level do you become an evil rich person?

Like I said, you are a rambling idiot with no coherent or consistent ideology.

Your post is a complete non sequitur; this entire tax bill is a massive gift to big corporations and the uber rich. That to offset the cost they want to meddle with the internal policies of the States should upset a supposed States' Righter like yourself but because you stupidly think it somehow punishes "liberal" States, you're all for it. That is, to use your favorite word, "hilarious".

So, as No1 surmised, you don't know what a subsidy is.
