"The Democratic party went awol in 2016 – and is still missing.
The party has no clear leader, no convincing analysis of why they lost
the election, and no strategy to do better next time."
    --Cas Muddle

"In fact, the 2016 presidential elections showed that the US has four potential main
parties, forced by an unforgiving electoral system into two actual parties."

"Democratic partisans will counter that, since Trump came to power, Democrats
have won many of the local and state races that have been held.
But they glance over the fact that these races were won with many different
candidates and positions, some diametrically opposed to each other.
Moreover, some races were won despite, rather than because of the Democratic party."

"Running both liberal and “socialist” candidates is the best strategy for
the Democratic party at this point. They have to cater to an increasingly
polarized country, in which the polarization is no longer just between the
two parties, but also within them. However, an electoral victory in the
midterm elections can only be translated into a political victory if the two
camps can find common ground that goes beyond anti-Trump platitudes.
Lacking this, they can at best hope to slow down the Republican onslaught
    on the political system."

The Democratic Party's future cannot be foretold, since it's far from clear who will emerge as the next Presidential candidate, how the courts will rule regarding Republican gerrymandering of districts, the outcome of the Mueller investigation, or the results of the next midterm election. These and other factors make for too many variables at play here to be able to predict.

I'm not sure it really matters.

The object is to generate as much Trump derangement as possible so even Hillary would win.

I'm sure she would take the nomination again.

And the only clear indication of any plan is to move to the left.

That will hand the keys to the White House to Trump (or his successor)

I just don't see America embracing Socialism.

Whodey, I know "The Donald" is one you love and adore, but if you'll remember back to the Obama years, the fine folks on FOX News did all the "derangement as possible" there too. Remember the birthers? Grannies being wheeled into the streets to die the ACA was supposed to bring about? The Kenyan born Muslim that would destroy the economy, and sink America into a Socialist hellhole? The Liberal scum President that would take ALL the guns away from Americans?

So stop sniveling about the mainstream media reporting about Trump, and don't paint the right wing as a bunch of injured, innocent, little martyrs Whodey. Even you know that's simply not true.
