It looks like Trump's lawyer has left a paper trail back to "The Donald" So much for going it alone without Trump's knowledge. I think Trump messed with the wrong lady this time, she's not going to be intimidated. Just another card in Robert Mueller's already strong hand! 🙂

Yeah, and it all relates to... campaign stuff. Really boring material. Perhaps even easy to develp some plausible deniability for the President.

it could also create a bad precedent of everyone using lawfare. But, then again, the republicans aren't known for resisting the Democrats too much so... IDK.

This is the sort of politics that is so boring: simpletons cheering on controversies that aren't actually political but just scandalous.

Misappropriating campaign funds isn't "actually political"? A politician using their influence to threaten citizens isn't "actually political"?

Does anyone remember Gary Hart? His presidential ambitions were scuppered by the revelation of an extramarital affair during the run-up to the nomination. If the Stormy affair had come to light during Trump's campaign, the GOP would not have backed him for the nomination, and somebody in Trump's camp knew this (whether acting with Trump's express approval or not). If we are indeed now looking back on a cover-up, then ... remember the lesson of Watergate: It's wasn't the crime, it was the cover-up which was Nixon's undoing.

The GOP establishment did not back him for the nomination until it was clear that he was going to win it anyway.

Society had changed a lot since the 1980's. Ever since Bill Clinton's candidacy survived the Gennifer Flowers affair, extra-marital sex is no longer considered fatal to a campaign.

In any case, Trump's candidacy has broken so many establishment "rules" that it's doubtful that one more affair allegation would have made that much difference.

The election was extremely close, so even if revelation of the affair didn't make "much difference" it still might have made enough of a difference to change the outcome. That it happened a mere few months after Melania had Barron somewhat increases the "yuck" factor.

At any rate, unless you seriously believe that Trump's lawyer paid Daniels $130,000 out of the goodness of his heart, we're talking campaign law and/or ethical violations.

This one has two added attractions: An implied death threat and curious comparisons to his daughter.

Het Mott. You goody two shoes, Christian pure Republicans didn't have any trouble teaming up with Monica Lewinsky, when Bill Clinton was diddling her. FIX NEWS gleefully devoted hundreds of hours to that. The Dem's are just taking a page out of the GOP playbook.😲

I didn't have sex with her.

Why do you think Trump's lawyer paid this "whore" $130,000?

It's a bit much to obliquely refer to Monica Lewinsky as a "whore" for mere political points.
