Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the new darling of the Democratic party. In a recent interview, however, the upstart politico running in a hyper-liberal district in New York did not show command of the issues. Ocasio-Cortez was being interviewed by Margaret Hoover on the PBS show ‘Firing Line.’

Hoover asked very basic, softball questions of the young congressional candidate. In explaining her positions on the economy, Hoover asked Ocasio-Cortez “Do you think that capitalism has failed to deliver for working class Americans?” Hoover cited a currently booming US economy and low unemployment.

“Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs,” Ocasio-Cortez explained, lamenting that people are employed but having to work long hours, “Capitalism has not always existed in the world and will not always exist in the world,” she continued.

Later in the interview, Ocasio-Cortez was asked if she thinks capitalism would survive as an economic system. Ocasio-Cortez shrugged and said that was a “good question” and believes our economy will “evolve.”

The 27-year old also called Israel occupiers of Palestinian land. When pushed on the comment, she mumbled and demurred ultimately admitting that she does not know anything on the issue.

Can anyone imagine what the Left and the press would do to this poor woman if she were a Republican like Sarah Palin?

I doubt it. He would have won on that ticket against Clinton for sure. Obama was a more charismatic candidate, and the economy was in shambles due to GOP mismanagement in 2008, which was enough to convince the 10% of the electorate that decides elections in the U.S.

Here are some more quotes from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

The last quarter, it was just announced, our gross domestic product … was below zero. Who ever heard of this? It's never below zero.

So pre-existing conditions are a tough deal. Because you are basically saying from the moment the insurance, you’re 21 years old, you start working and you’re paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time you’re 70, you get a nice plan. Here’s something where you walk up and say, “I want my insurance.” It’s a very tough deal, but it is something that we’re doing a good job of.

Oh wait... that was Donald Trump.

You have to understand, this is the same man who lowered taxes and then turned around and raised tariffs.

My guess is he like Nixon. He turns on the fire place as he increases the AC.

Nixon was probably the best Republican president since Eisenhower. It's not really fair to compare him to Trump.

She referred to Israel as occupiers of Palestinian land.

At what point does land become yours? Should the US be called occupiers of American Indian land?

    Israel:

    1. Has an ancient history in the land, far more ancient than the Palestinians as that land was taken from them.
    2. Was given land by the UN
    3. Fought wars over the land as Israel prevailed.

I'm not sure what more one could do to declare land your own.

Of course, the most laughable part of her comment is, she then said she knew next to nothing about the issue even though she just commented on it.

But being in a political party, one does not really need to know much other than party dogma. If you are a Dim, Palestinians good, Zionists bad. Illegal immigrant t children good, unborn children bad. Blacks, good, whites bad, etc.

For starters, the inhabitants should have the right to vote.

Only #3 of your points is true and war can not longer give good title to land under international law.

    Her statement was accurate.

    Daily Caller? 😞

Ocasio-Cortez is not a Socialist. She is a Democratic Socialist, in the style of Bernie Sanders.

She has a far better command of the issues than the witless fools (like whodey) who depend
on the Daily Caller for their make-believe news.

Well, she did make a hash of the unemployment question; she seemed to want to say that a lot of people had to work two jobs because wages are low/stagnant but she kinda mucked it up.

    She'll learn.

She's a quantum leap over Joe Crowley, the 10-term insider she beat in the primary.
