TMZ depicted various mid-level celebrities (Paris Hilton, Martha Stewart, Kate Gosselin, some others) with Mexican ethnic slurs last night. They all had penned-in mustachios except Kate, Martha was wearing a Home Depot apron and holding a churro in one hand and a bag of oranges in the other. Kate was crossing a road with her kids in front of a warning side that had two (presumably illegal and presumably Mexican) people hand-in-hand with their kids running.

Could TMZ get away with that if the stereotypes with African-American slurs?

Is TMZ getting a pass because it's OK for Hollywood to do it? (Assuming they will get a pass.)

(note to incognoscenti: TMZ is an entertainment news show focusing on celebrity hijinks and paparazzi ambushes of celebrities at airport gates, etc.)

The laws against stalking should be enforced - even if the stalkee happens to be a celebrity -- paparazzi that engage in such behavior should be severely prosecuted.

Just because you're a celebrity, you shouldn't have to tolerate a horde of people with cameras following you everywhere you go just waiting for that one embarassing moment.

that is a good idea, but it's a side note.

not sure why they don't apply it in the US.

TMZ is getting a pass because not enough Mexicans watch TMZ and nobody expects there to be anything but crap on TMZ.

Also Mexicans have bigger issues than idiotic racial slurs on a stupid news channel.

I think if a channel such as fox, msnbc, abc or other did something like that then they'd get more complaints.

Also, there probably would be a bigger uproar if they used slurs/stereotypes associated with African-Americans.
