In an interview with WND, Clarke, who is adored by many on the right for his unapologetic tough talking and his full-throated defense of police during high-profile shootings, said he believes it is no coincidence the most dangerous cities in America are all led politically by Democrats.

The sheriff claims opportunistic Democrats and white liberals are capitalizing on an emerging black underclass by perpetuating and exacerbating the problems plaguing the black community.

“Lifestyle choices – having multiple kids out of wedlock or by different fathers and mothers, failure to embrace education, not staying consistently in the work force” are stifling social mobility among blacks, Clarke explained. “People on the left are embracing these lifestyle choices as if they are some sort of virtue.”

Blacks disproportionately have children out of wedlock and are enticed to do so by liberal progressives, Clarke explained, despite the countless sociological studies that prove single parent households are the root cause of criminal behavior.

“Seventy percent of black kids today born into single-parent households – we know that some single moms can do an incredible job with raising their kids – but the fact is, the studies are there, the data is there. A child born into a two-parent family has a better chance at succeeding in life,” he said.

“I am not talking about the entire black community, but I am talking about an emerging underclass, where these fatal lifestyle choices are taking hold – things like gang involvement, drug and alcohol abuse. Those are negative aspects of the culture and it’s baited by white liberals.”

The devastating impact fatherless households have had on families compelled Clarke to underscore the importance of fatherhood in his new book, “Cop Under Fire.”

“My family wasn’t perfect, but I was born into a two-parent family and had an engaged dad. I had a dad who kept me on the straight and narrow. He instilled a sense of respect for authority and a sense of taking responsibility for my actions. He provided love when I needed it, but he also provided discipline when I needed it too,” Clarke said. “You look at some of the news stories, kids really – you are talking about 14- and 15-year-olds – involved in some serious violent crime. The common denominator with the overwhelming majority of those kids is no involved dad.

“When dads were taken out of the picture during the Great Society, with Democrat President Lyndon Johnson and the ‘War on Poverty,’ it resulted in a declaration of war on the black family because it marginalized black men and separated them from their children,” he said.

“Dads need to be around to help provide food, shelter, clothing, love, education – instead, Uncle Sam moved in and took its place. Uncle Sam became the provider of things like rent assistance, put food on the table, in terms of food stamps – there are more people on food stamps today than ever before. Uncle Sam might be good at some things, but Uncle Sam has been a horrible father.”

Democratic legislators are uniquely positioned to positively influence the community – culturally, politically and economically – as blacks consistently vote Democrat, but they refuse to, Clarke asserts.

“It is important within the black community for people like myself – people like Elijah Cummings, a congressman who represents Baltimore area, John Conyers, who represents the Detroit area, Maxine Waters, who represents the L.A. area where there is a significant ghetto – to have the courage to stand up and shame and condemn some of these lifestyle choices and to not be afraid to self-criticize and be that messenger to people,” he said. “But these individuals do not have the courage, they’re playing the game. They know better – they know these lifestyle choices can be fatal, but politics trumps policy for them and they’d rather carry water for the liberal and progressive agenda than fight for their own people.”

If Republicans could get 20 percent of black votes, the Democrats would face perpetual electoral jeopardy. Democrats must not only continue to get nine-tenths of black votes, they also need to get a high turnout of black voters on Election Day.

The fact that 90 percent of African-Americans consistently vote for Democrats, Clarke argues, only exacerbates the crime and gridlocks America’s inner cities into islands of profound impoverishment.

“It keeps people like John Conyers and Elijah Cummings and others in political power. It’s not just at the congressional level but at the local level as well,” he said. “It keeps some of these pathetic white liberals in power who have done nothing to improve the conditions.

“Look at the poverty rates in these cities – even my own city Milwaukee, we are the sixth poorest city in America. This city has been run by liberal Democrats for the last 100 years,” he pointed out. “Look at the poverty levels. Look at the unemployment levels. In Milwaukee, the black male unemployment rate is 62 percent.

“People can vote however they want – but you have to think about this once-in-a-while: How have things gotten better under total liberal Democrat control in these cities? They haven’t.”

Republicans pushed through the 13th Amendment after the Civil War, officially abolishing slavery in America. Southern Democrats, when forced to free their slaves, attempted to re-enslave them by passing “black codes” and “Jim Crow” laws, which required former slaves to be “apprenticed” to “employers” and punished those who left. But the black community continues to loyally support the Democratic party, Clarke contends, because they “have been separated from their history.”

“They’ve been blinded from reality, lied to and hoodwinked about what is really going on in this country over the last 150 years,” he said. “Look at the Civil Rights Act in 1964, you know who stood in the way of that? Not Republicans, Democrats. You know who stood in the way of the Voting Rights Act? Not Republicans, Democrats. Lyndon Johnson had to go out and recruit Republican lawmakers on the hill to get those bills passed by the Congress because the Democrats were standing in the way of it.”

He continued. “Who freed the slaves? Lincoln, the Republican Party ran on an anti-slavery campaign. The Democrats supported that institution and tried to stand in the way of the 13th and 14th Amendment.”

As the shooting to death of black men by black police officers have led to violent protests, riots that destroyed businesses and the Black Lives Matter movement, Clarke steadfastly maintains that the animosity from the left against police is intentionally constructed by Democrats for political gain.

“The whole thing from the beginning was a political construct – this ‘war on police’ was designed to mobilize and energize the black vote for the 2016 election,” Clarke said. “This polarization was started by Barack Obama who instituted a philosophy of divide and conquer. He is the one that stoked the flames in terms of poor race relations in the United States. The New York Times, who couldn’t find a bad word to say about Barack Obama, did a poll when Barack was president of the United States, and it showed that 70 percent of Americans thought race relations were worse under Barack Obama than at any time in our nation’s history.”

Despite the Democrat Party’s success of polarizing the nation against law enforcement and stoking the flames of racial division, their strategy ultimately backfired, Clarke explained.

“It backfired tremendously. People in these crimes-ravaged communities and neighborhoods, they realize the importance of the police,” he said. “The biggest losers in all this animosity towards the police from this race obsessed culture that we are seeing in the United States is good, law-abiding black people who have to live in these crime-ravaged communities, because police have backed off. Black people are over represented in terms of not only committing a lot of this crime, but also being victimized by it as well.”

The anti-police movement has taken a toll on the morale of police officers, Clarke observes.

Police are “still doing their job, but they’re not being as assertive as we need in their unobligated time to go out, do field interview stops, traffic stops in high crime areas to identify perpetrators and getting people wanted on serious felony warrants off the streets,” he said.

“The result is we’re seeing some serious, violent and felony crime escalate in many metropolitan areas, but mainly in black communities,” he continued.

Milwaukee’s sheriff, who is loathed by leftist for brazenly condemning secular progressivism, wrote his book to inspire Americans to stand tall in their conviction, regardless of the obstacles they may encounter.

“Cop Under Fire” is “a book about how anything is possible in the United States of America. You can reach your dreams, you can live a fulfilled life,” he told WND. “I get attacked a lot for my views, I don’t care about that – this is not about me. This is about being in a position of leadership where I can have a positive impact in people’s lives and trying to inspire them to state their beliefs, articulate their beliefs and stand up for what they believe. Don’t let people shut you down. Don’t let people intimidate you. Those are the kinds of things that people are trying to do to me, but it doesn’t work.

“Many people in the political class do not have a backbone. They do what is politically expedient. They do things that are going to keep getting them elected, but that’s not what we created leadership positions for. We created leadership positions for people to lead.”

Despite the left’s attempt to “marginalize God,” Clarke said, faith is the most fundamental aspect of leadership.

“My faith gives me wisdom. I pray for wisdom. I pray for understanding. I pray for empathy toward others. I pray for sympathy when it’s needed. I pray for compass...

GARBAGE once again. Why do you parrot this?

    I picked two random sections.

The man doesn't know his own history (or more likely are willfully misrepresenting it) and he either doesn't anything about leadership or is just catering to his base.
Either way he is just another opinion maker with a political agenda who approaches the public in a disgusting fashion.

Obviously, the Republican leadership worked at the steel mill for 30 years after getting their high school diploma and then chose to enter politics to help their fellow blue collar millionaires.

Our nation’s top historians reveal that the Democratic Party gave us the Ku Klux Klan, Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws and other repressive legislation which resulted in the multitude of murders, lynchings, mutilations, and intimidations (of thousands of black and white Republicans). On the issue of slavery: historians say the Democrats gave their lives to expand it, the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.
    The Democrats:

Democrats fought to expand slavery while Republicans fought to end it.
Democrats passed those discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws.

Democrats passed the Repeal Act of 1894 that overturned civil right laws enacted by Republicans.
Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than vote for a Republican, because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.
Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, reintroduced segregation throughout the federal government immediately upon taking office in 1913.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first appointment to the Supreme Court was a life member of the Ku Klux Klan, Sen. Hugo Black, Democrat of Alabama.

Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt resisted Republican efforts to pass a federal law against lynching.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt opposed integration of the armed forces.
Democrat Senators Sam Ervin, Albert Gore, Sr. and Robert Byrd were the chief opponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Democrats supported and backed Judge John Ferguson in the case of Plessy v Ferguson.
Democrats supported the School Board of Topeka Kansas in the case of Brown v The Board of Education of Topeka Kansas.
Democrat public safety commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor, in Birmingham, Ala., unleashed vicious dogs and turned fire hoses on black civil rights demonstrators.
Democrats were who Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the other protesters were fighting.
Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox “brandished an ax hammer to prevent blacks from patronizing his restaurant.

Finally, protests or challenges to Jim Crow often proved futile, given law enforcement’s complicity in the structure. From emancipation to the turn of the century, the Ku Klux Klan operated as a paramilitary arm of the Democratic Party in the South. The Klan, nightriders, red shirts, and other white terrorists intimidated African Americans with personal attacks, school burnings, and lynchings. African Americans rarely served as policemen, sheriffs, or deputies before the late 1940s. During the 1950s and 1960s, the connections between municipal and state governments, law enforcement, and racial violence were well known by officials and citizens alike.

This is all BS. The people who were Southern Democrats opposing integration all morphed over to the Republican Party after Civil Rights legislation was pushed through by Democratic Presidents and progressives in the 1960s. Heck, the right wingers on this forum call Abraham Lincoln a megalomaniac mass murderer for not allowing the CSA to take their slaves, leave the Union and then expand into the Western Territories.

Nobody with even the slightest knowledge of US history is buying the implication that the present ideology of the Democratic Party bears even the remotest similarity to what slave owners and segregationists believed long ago.
