This guy illustrates why simply handing out guns to staff won't work. We don't know who will crack under pressure when an assault rifle is aimed at them.

Guns need to be taken away not given out.

The failures surrounding this event are startling.

School system expels him as he the school system fails him

Parents die and leave him to "caretakers" who are more interested in the money they can get from the gun man than about the shooter or the victims.

Law enforcement called to the shooters house 39 times due to domestic violence but nothing is reported.

FBI notified twice about shooter threatening to shoot up a school but say they could not find him despite having his full name.

Law enforcement at scene but fail to take down the suspect, presumably because he was close to retirement.

About the only people who did not fail the children were the teachers who put themselves in harms way to defend the students and died doing it.

From my vantage point, the only ones who we can trust are the teachers to defend the children because they are the only ones who seem to care about them, so why not arm them?

So you want to pass more gun laws that will get ignored or violations of the law not reported you say?

    LMAO! 😵

The shooter purchased guns legally. If someone too young to buy beer wasn't allowed to buy guns, the mass shooting would not have happened.

He openly threatened shooting up a school which is illegal I can assure you. As I say, pass more laws for them to ignore if you like.

Also, his parents let him have the gun DESPITE knowing his violent tendencies.

Perhaps they were hoping this would happen so that they could collect the loot of close to $1 million that they knew he was to be given next year from his dead parents.

He wouldn't have been able to carry out his threats if he wasn't allowed to buy guns.

    That is pure speculation.

How did the gun ban work for Chicago?

People should at least be allowed to protect themselves.

You can't ban just one city; they'll just get their guns from nearby. Look how well gun bans in Australia worked.

2 cities, 3, 4, 5, 110? How many do you need to ban exactly?

I know, let's close the gun running border with Mexico! 😵

Like your prototypical liberal, I’d like to see the job description and his qualifications. Was he properly vetted for experience and ability to do what that situation called on him to do? What weapons was he trained on and equipped with?

Of course some people here are already programmed in their reactions. Walking bots?

The guns go south. Mexico is NOT supplying the USA with weapons.

The Sherriff seems to believe he was quite capable, adequately armed and trained. He just failed to act. While a gym teacher who obviously would have acted, ( in offense had he been armed ) given the lack of choice, chose defense; protecting those under his care with the ultimate sacrifice of his own life.
