Poll: Independents Say Biden Is Greater Threat to Democracy than Trump
Independent voters are not buying the establishment media’s claim that former President Donald Trump is a greater threat to democracy than President Joe Biden, according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

A majority of independent voters believe Biden is a greater threat to democracy than Trump, the poll found:

I truly wish that one of our lib thinkers would....what, compare the policies of the two parties? what is it? What differences make one party more of a democracy destroyer than the other?
Sonhouse welcome, of course, but could personal raving be left out of any answer? You waste your time to say that Trump said he would be a dictator. Give us the general picture. I truly would like it, because I myself do not know the real definition of a democracy.

I know what you mean, Joe. I don't know what the real definition of a woman is {smirk}

Well, Joe, the US is a republican democracy, which means that we elect representatives to vote in our stead.

So, if our elected ones act in favor of - say, special interest groups instead of their constituents,
the people can be considered abandoned, and democracy slapped in the face.

You don't think Trump completely negating the idea of the peaceful transfer of power is somehow a smaller threat to democracy than Biden or Obama? Remember, there is only one POTUS in American history attempting a literal coup with the mutli level scheme, attack on the capitol building, claiming massive voter fraud when the actual numbers you could count on your hands and feet and just about all of them were from republicans and the fake elector scheme and the phone calls like the one that went "I need to find 11780 votes, then we take Georgia' or that OTHER 'perfect' phone call to Zelenskyy "find me dirt on Biden or you can forget getting that half bil in military aid''.
That plus the Times article where he says in his own words exactly what he will do if reelected.

AND the Mar a Lago TS docs case, and you think BIDEN is a threat to democracy?

Why are you totally ignoring the fact Biden got the infrastructure bill passed when Trump couldn't even though he owned house and senate or the Chips bill passed by Biden putting up tens of billions to build chips plants here in the US so we can not be totally dependent on a Chinese invasion of Taiwan where they would control one of the largest suppliers of chips as well as stealing high level manufacturing technology.
And getting the price of Insulin down from 400 bucks to 30 bucks.
And the inflation reduction act which BTW is working, the inflation rate in the US is the lowest in all of the other western democracies, under 4% and some 10 MILLION new jobs in Biden's term.

Trump on the other hand has hundreds of thousands of deaths, blood on his hands from his unconscionable delay month after month doing anything about COVID saying instead, 'it will all be over by Easter' or 'I didn't want to cause panic' which is total BS because he has zero morals and all he could think about is maintaining his own popularity with his base.
Unable to pass HIS Infrastructure bill but got that 2 trillion dollar tax bribe bill passed touting it as companies using the windfall to build factories here in the US instead of farming them out to China and Thailand and the like but in fact that tax bribe was used for stock buy backs, so their bottom line would get better, no new factories and no new jobs.

But you think somehow he is better than most any other POTUS in American history?

So, The threat to democracy, as questioned here, would be if the electors break the law or break procedure, and vote in a manner that is not in keeping with our voting process. They will go the special interest route. Are you saying electors will go rogue in plain English?
And, is that it… We are under a threat that special interest will sway our electors to vote them all into a position of power, From whence they will exercise such power, as would a communist dictatorship. I am trying to stay within a simple boundary of argument here, with respect to son houses longer dissertation. Let’s stay with this for the moment.

The Republican Party hasn't had a platform since 2016.

Their "policies" are only the fever-dreams of Donald Trump.

It’s mental.
One is a dithering old fool surrounded by professional experts and analysts; and is a reasonable politician.

The other is a narcissistic sex fiend, in court on paying hush money to a pornstar he had sex with just after his wife gave birth… someone who denies reality to suit his ego and who wants everyone to bow down to his every wish; someone who doesn’t comprehend the political or electoral system who is laughed at all over the planet.

Don’t get me wrong: I want trump to be the next US president, just for the giggles of it.

However, on planet reality, anyone voting for trump is mentally retarded. And anyone thinking Biden is actually a greater risk to democracy has been spoon fed idiotic propaganda for too long than is actually healthy.

The truth.

The greatest threat to democracy is democracy itself.

In other words your eyes glaze over if there is more than one paragraph to read or you actually read it and cannot defend my post and are ignoring it.
Which is it?
Did you read the Times interview with Trump for instance? The words are his, exactly what he will do if reelected.

No offense, but frankly, your posts are as impossible to read as much as they are to respond to. Suggest you write a succinct post each time. I wojld read them, and likely respond.

If Biden had been president since 2016, I would not have. created NEAR the jobs I have, and I am responsible for hundreds. Trump's economy was tremendous, and now look what we have. Suzi says he had no policies, which is a flat lie. I, and millions of other entreprenurs, profited greatly then, dragging thousands of employees on our coattails. Ha, do businesses even give employees bonuses anymore? We gave out a lot. Don't hear much about that now..
Hint and prediction: Prepare to get invested if Trump comes back, ride the train. A big businessman vs a man who has never had a real job. Too busy politicking, as he lied his way into office.
But, let us not get off track. What democracy will be lost if Trump is president. None of you are clear on that. And Sonhouse just fails to zero in. He predicts that Trump will Nationalize everything around him. A prediction, unlikely to happen. Not much to talk about. If you all believe SHouse, tell us how it will play out. Interesting. SHoues and I.will sit back and learn from you.

Chill sonhouse this is a breitbart survey / link the same people who are still lying about the 2020 election.
How can anyone believe the democratically elected potus is more of a threat to democracy than the guy who tried to disenfranchise 80 million voters with lies and violence and who’s promised to be a dictator and implant his own courtiers in positions of power just like Putin, go after the free press and demand total immunity in order to assassinate any political rivals
If that survey exists it was not filled in by independents

You godda be kidding. Biden is a bigger threat to democracy than Trump who started a multi level coup attempt like the one out in the open, Jan 6 and then the fake elector scheme and the phone calls like the one to the Sec. of State of Georgia, I need to find 11780 votes, are you claiming that is all BS, never happened?
