Once upon a time, there was Ukrainian who had an apple. But a Russian saw it and said “That apple is half Russian. So I’m taking the Russian half.”

This time the UN only said words like, “We believe very strongly that people should not take other’s apples.“

Meanwhile, certain people helped the Ukrainian hold onto the half of the apple he still had. But then those people changed their minds and said to the Ukrainian, “You should just accept having half the apple and make peace with the situation.”

The whole problem with humans is that most are fundamentally unable to understand the concept of justice. πŸ˜†

“War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.”
― George Orwell, 1984

Now explain to us all why war is peace. Why has peace become a dirty word in the democrat party? Take sonhouse for example. He is raving mad that Trump wants peace one minute, then the next he is claiming Putin will never accept peace at the same time Zelensky is rejecting peace.

The thing about propaganda is that it seems to make sense at first. Then you realize you accepted that peace is war and war is peace.

"If you want peace, work for justice."

MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI

"Peace is not treachery (Cf. Job 15:21). Peace is not a lie made into a system (Cf. Jer 6:14). Much less is it pitiless totalitarian tyranny. "

Metal Brain wants a "peace" similar to what Czechslovakia got at Munich in 1938.

I think somebody also said that peace is not merely the absence of war. πŸ˜†

So peace is trumped by justice? Tell that to all of the countries the US government invaded. Not that kind of justice, right?

Only if an adversary invades other countries. That is your position. You never condemned the US invasion of Syria. That means you believe in just invasions since only adversaries deserve a peace deal.

Don't tell me what my positions are. πŸ˜†

You'll get it wrong every time.

To achieve peace, we have to work for justice, yes. πŸ˜†

You are a cad. You don't want peace at all unless a democrat brokers a peace agreement. The USA baited Russia into the Ukraine war so the USA could invade Syria without Russia killing our terrorist allies.

You never complained about the USA invasion and occupation of Syria. You only bellyache when an adversary does the invading. You condoned US invasions.

Justice for who? Not Syria. You don't care about US invasions. That is obviously your position. You have never condemned US invasions except maybe when republicans do the invading. You are a partisan war pig.

You keep lying; I opposed US intervention in Syria and did so on this Forum.

Both the US and Russia intervened in Syria long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so your little conspiracy theory makes no sense.

EDIT: I will no longer respond to your outright lies that I supported US military interventions that I absolutely did not. These are desperate attempts by you to change the subject and I won't continue to dignify such falsehoods.

Dictatorship is, inherently, a violation of the rights of the people (i.e. the complete opposite of justice). So any dictator maybe be removed at any time by anyone. πŸ˜†

That is a given. That's how you get to justice, which then leads to lasting peace.

As for Syria, I'm not sure why the US was there - if it was getting rid of Asad then yay! But we have gone into countries for more dubious reasons. We should never do that. TBH I didn't track that intervention all that closely.

Asad is gone now though! YAY! πŸ˜†

My assessment, knowing no1m a little bit, is that this is almost certainly a true statement. πŸ˜†

FWIW anyway.

But back, simplistically, to the OP anaolgy. (I love an analogy).

Re 'the certain people (USA)",:: they helped, and helped, and helped the Ukranians. For 3 years, with billions of their tax dollats. Then, the certain people said..Enough. We want to have a say in what is going on with our money, and would like a bit of consideration** for that which we have spent up to now. Can we maybe have a bit of your minerals?

** Consideration in the definition of 'payment or reward', its definition.

So, your post seems to not feel too good about this concept?? Just askin,

Adding conditions after the fact is acting in bad faith.

When aid was given there was no mention that Ukraine would have to reimburse any other country for it (as every country but the US under Trump recognizes); the countries gave such aid because they believed it was in their best interests to oppose Russian aggression.
