Should the GOP hand back its badge of "Fiscal Responsibility" and be rebranded as the "Deficit Party?"

The GOP uses "Fiscal Responsibility" as a slogan. It fits nicely on a bumper sticker.

When was the GOP fiscally responsible?
The GOP didn't exist when Andrew Jackson was POTUS.

Funny, you forgot free everything to go along with it. You also forgot that Obama reinstituted the "W" tax cuts to help the economy.

    Funny that.

Neither party is fiscally responsible dope.

Governments are like stars. They just get bigger, and bigger, and bigger and bigger..........until................they just collapse on themselves and form a black hole from which nothing escapes.

Except that if America did behave like a star, the black hole of debt ends up swallowing all of us, not just Americans.

Of course they should. It is the Bush Jr. Plan...cut and spend.

Funny though, who is the alternate party that will not grow the deficit?

    That's it!

Start an alternate, "Do deficit" party and watch people vote against them for higher taxes and no free stuff.

    Brilliant!

No need to increase taxes if you do away with free stuff both for private citizens and corporations.

During the Eisenhower administration, the federal government substantially reduced its debt.

I saw Trump doing one of his cabinet round tables in front of a camera today and he told all the cabinet heads to each submit a proposal for achieving a 5% spending cut for their areas. So, that's the right direction right?

    No, a photo-op isn't the right direction.

    Lol

You are pathetic. We are talking about the US total debt. You claim owing less one year but always spending more than you bring is is fine.

I am talking about actually paying off the national debt.

Maybe if we all stop cheating on our taxes.
