Calling me a bigot doesn’t answer the issue I’m raising. I don’t judge people by their race or ancestry, and I don’t believe anyone is inferior because of where they came from. My concern is cultural assimilation. I believe that when people come to America, they should become part of the American civic and cultural fabric rather than maintaining separate communities indefinitely and expecting American society to accommodate every tradition they bring with them.
America has always absorbed immigrants from many different countries, but successful immigration historically involved assimilation into a common American culture. I think it’s reasonable to want that tradition preserved. You may disagree with my position, but disagreement over immigration and assimilation doesn’t automatically make someone a bigot. You use the term incorrectly.
If you think something I’ve actually said is bigoted, identify the specific statement and explain why. Don’t substitute a label for an argument. Don’t change my wording if you wish to make our argument. Geez. Go after the substance , not after my character. That seems to be the only straw you have.
