A journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step

General

This quote is often mis-used as a form of inspiration, but it is actually a warning. The phrase in context warns people of taking on momentous tasks without thinking of the consequences, or realising the true implications of the "journey".

Next time you see this, consider the way it is used and giggle.

Peace is easily maintained;
Trouble is easily overcome before it starts.
The brittle is easily shattered;
The small is easily scattered.

Deal with it before it happens.
Set things in order before there is confusion.

A tree as great as a man's embrace springs from a small shoot;
A terrace nine stories high begins with a pile of earth;
A journey of a thousand miles starts under one's feet.

He who acts defeats his own purpose;
He who grasps loses.
The sage does no act, and so is not defeated.
He does not grasp and therefore does not lose.

People usually fail when they are on the verge of success.
So give as much care to the end as to the beginning;
Then there will be no failure.

Therefore the sage seeks freedom from desire.
He does not collect precious things.
He learns not to hold on to ideas.
He brings men back to what they have lost.
He helps the ten thousand things find their own nature,
But refrains from action.

I scorn everything and anybody. 😉

Except God of course. Just can't help myself. It's me stomping the earth hand in hand with the almighty. All others can kiss my ass.

It's for fun.

God must look at you and shudder. 😞

Funny how westerners buy into this b.s. to make up for their lost spirituality.

And here I thought that was your fetish. Poor judge of character, I suppose.

Yes. Fun. Entertainment. A diversion. Seeing how people become unhinged at the mention of anything relating to God. Observing the hysterical responses given at the mention of the name above all names.

But don't worry. Sometimes it's sad too. Someday, maybe soon, I'll find myself doing something else for fun.

Sure, and when God sees you it makes Him feel better. 😕

Well, without a reference to a quote it's not clear what b.s. you're referring to.

But people haven't become unhinged and hysterical so how much "fun" are you having on this thread?
