... own a car in Canada? I was charged around $23 for parking over the night. There is not a single spot in TO to park your car for free... except for these small streets outside the downtown! I mean I already pay for driving the car (purchasing gas), why should I pay for parking! Probably most of you won't understand me if the situation is same in your countries. But in country where I come from and many other Eastern European and some Asian countries you can park anywhere and nobody can charge you for that!
So I wanted to make a small research on prices for parking al over the world. How much do you pay for parking in your country? Pls. indicate your country and parking price in downtown for 1 hour!

Azerbaijan, 1 hour - $ o

Central London - £5 [$9 approx] per hour if you are lucky.[ and thats after you pay £5 or whatever it is now per day to enter the area, laughingly known as the "congestion charge"]

Sunderland - 5Op [9Oc approx] per hour.

$23 for overnight parking is relatively cheap for most major cities in the US.

Japan:
The garage is more expensive than my apartment.
The rice farmer (25m X 25m field size) get's $40,000 a year if he keeps growing crops on his field. The crops sell for $2,500.
4000 yen ($22) is cheap for a night's parking.

In Brighton you go on a waiting list for a year to buy (£100 per year) a parking permit which allows you to park in a small area close to your flat. Trouble is there are far more permits than sp[aces so you can't find a space anyway nad the you paty £1.50 for 20mins!

...and these fees should be quadrupled and used to expand and maintain public transport. Also, could someone tell all the American diplomats to pay the £160 000 they owe in unpaid congestion charges?
