This guy's too controversial to be allowed to get by with Benny 16 . I say we give him a proper name , devirved by group concensus .

My contribution is : " Ratzi the Natzi " . But I'm open to suggestions .

I wonder if anyone has reminded His holy Germanness of the 5-1 drubbing.

As a Bavarian the Pope would point out that with the number of chances created by the German team in the first half of their 5-1 loss, iif a they had a striker with the finishing proess of Bayern great Gerd Muller playing on his home ground, they would have been 4 up before half time ... so Pope Gerd Muller I gets my vote.

You're a witty, witty man. To demonstrate just how witty, the tabloid The Sun in England used a similar jibe, so congratulations at reaching their level. I pronounce that to be the wittiest remark ever made. Roll over Oscar Wilde...

Of course, being in the Hitler Youth was highly controversial at the time, as you rightly point out. And of course, under the big man, most boys joined a Jewish sewing circle, or a Slovonic bakery class, so the young lad was placing himself apart for a good career in Nazism, as you say, from day one.

I might ask how you would have done things in his position, however.

Would you have had the bravery to get out, as he did, or would you have contented yourself to composing a collection of witticisms to be released in peacetime to make you a packet, after your boys had won through? Either way, poor show on that original post, my good man, poor show.

Besides, I would also suggest that if you are not a Catholic, then the Pope has no spiritual importance for you, so you might do well to concentrate your energies on whoever does, and God help you.

That's a bloody joke! The Pope may not have any spiritual importance to non-Catholics, but if you are on the receiving end of an STD, or an unwanted pregnancy, or AIDS, because of the Pope\Catholic Church's stance on birth control, then the Pope is an excellent place to concentrate your energies.

You're right I'm not catholic . I haven't had that torture inflicted upon me . I wouldn't give a damn about him if he kept his yap shut and sat on his fat arse in Rome . But the Papacy being far more interested in politics than god , has this history of trying to stick it's beak in where it doesn't belong (public health , political candidates , policies of democratic government ). We non catholics are supposed to sit idle and not criticize this popus ignorant ass ? Kiss my ass .

I have been harsh on him for his personal history . So you're right , I shouldn't hate the "man pope " , but the "Office of Pope" and everything it stands for . To me it's more of the message the church is sending to the world . In light of a world wide HIV/AIDS crisis , pedophile priest being sheltered and hidden from prosecution , over population (not a good track record with that recent history there I think you'll conceed ); with this choice of pope with his history they've once again chosen to say "to hell with the world , what you think , the history of our F*** ups , what the issues really are , we're infalible and we're choosing to go UBER conservative". The church has ignored the history of their collaboration with Hitler during the war and only recently admitting it , and apologizing for it . In light of all of this , Ratzi Uber Pope's election is to some of us , ironic , to say the least . It is inflamatory , insensitive , ignorant , to say the most .

And he's supposed to be beond criticism , even to those who find him repugnant ? Why again ? Oh yes , that's right ; the fear of a god I don't believe in . A god of love who will srike me dead for the slightest misdemeanor .

Once again sir , kiss my ass . Pucker up to the brown star . And care for a tea bag while you're down there ?

So I do not regard this clown as having any spiritual importance , but recognize that (unfortunately) he has political importance . I also recognize that the world is filled with human livestock (such as you) who are content to abdicate thought and freedom to someone who doesn't give a damn about you as long as don't step out of line . You can give you fealty , your money , your obedience , you bloody life to this fool in historical drag if you like . I'll give him criticism , scorn , and a snappy nick name if I like .

Personally , I beleive there's a silver lining to every cloud . This one is that this pope will be so brutaly insensitive to the needs of his people and so willfully agressively ignorant about how the world really works ; that he'll drive 100's of thousands away from catholicism for good .

I'd say have a nice day , but I wouldn't mean it . So instead I hope you get the clap , are sterilized , and run over by the popemobile .

I think you're over-simplifying the matter there.

The child birth rate in both Spain and Italy (the two most catholic countries in Europe) has dropped tremendously.

Would you seriously dare stand up and suggest that the spread of AIDS is solely caused by Catholicism in Africa? You surely will aknowledge that there are umpteen reasons for men not wearing condoms there, and the pope is probably one of the lesser.

If I understood what I think I heard yesterday, this pope has been "elected" for two reasons.
1. He's not gonna live more than 15 years
2. The rise of the religious right in the Americas (both the US and Southern America) is based on fundamentalism and the Catholic leadership feel they should fight fire with fire.

Personally I would have preferred a Jeshuit as pope, but hey...pigs will fly someday too.

No they're not solely responsible for AIDS , but telling millions not to use condoms is hosing the flames with gasoline .

You cited two catholic countries where the birth rate has dropped . Questions :
1 Would that be because they are educated modern societies who choose not to follow the churches policies here ?
2 you're citing correlation between catholicism and low birth rate , are you implying catholicism is the cause as well ?
3 Can you find predominately catholic countries where the birth rate is going up ?

I did not imply catholicism is the cause for anything , just that they are part of these problems getting worse .

Personally , I liked the last pope . I grew very fond of him these last few weeks . I think they should dig him up and keep him . He'll do far less damage .

I'm always in favour of digging up corpses.

However, the previous pope is one I'd prefer to keep underground.
