Cottage pie (made with minced beef) has a grated cheese topping.
(That's the "thatch" of the cottage.)
Lamb is quite fatty enough without the cheese.

And don't forget the leeks and copious mint!

1 Italian style meatballs with tomato sauce over penne pasta (starter of buffalo mozzarella)
2 Fish ‘n Chips: neck end of cod, hyper-light batter, blanched chips not cooked through, mushy peas, slice of bread and butter for a chip butty on the side
3 English roast: turkey or beef, goose fat roasties, Brussels, parsnips, carrots, Yorkshire pudding, caul ...[text shortened]... e bench: Moules marinière with cream, garlic and parsley, soft white baguette and a crisp white wine
