Have you heard of Alice chess? It's a variant created by the British math professor Vernon Ryland Parton in 1953, he got inspiration from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, through the looking-glass, a tale by Carroll Lewis.
It is played on two standard 8x8 chessboards with the usual 32-piece set.

Yes, and it has been implemented already.

This is one of the variants soon to be added to RHP as an alternative to standard chess. (With rating per variant.)
