Yep, I do not memorise whole games but certain positions in a game and the response to it. On the other hand I must I add that I , like the idea of knowing at least some of the classic games by heart. I have not started though. It has been on my to-do list for a while. The idea is not to improve my chess, simply to keep my mind alert.
