This game shows drawn. It also shows stale mate. I did not agree to a draw however is this some rule or something? I know there is some type of 50 move rule or something but I thought I would have checkmate on my next move. I know I'm a patzer at chess but thanks in advance for the answer.

Originally posted by menace71The game is a draw because of stalemate. White has to make a move, and white is not allowed to move into check, legally. That is why it is a draw. White has no move and can not pass his turn. 🙂

Naturally, they get more and more complicated. I remember a grandmaster game where Larry Evans (I believe) was in big trouble. He stalemated his king and then chased the black king around the board with a rook. Black couldn't take it or it would have been stalemate, so he got something like a perpetual check. Even GM's get stalemated!!! You learned something new and that's the important thing. 🙂 Handshake

I cannot understand how you can have over 1,700 under your belt
and not get better. (Not meant as dig mate).
Perhaps he moves too fast or is playing far to many games
and not giving each game the time they need.
The game in question Game 5280169 is the stalemate.
Black misses a few mates in two and a mate in one all before move 20.
Check all checks. It maybe mate!
(It's is better have checked and lost than never to have checked at all).
I think you guys are right 1700 games. LOL 🙂 I think I need to slow down it's hard. I would like to study the game and play OTB with people better than myself. I work a bunch of hours at my job and don't have huge amounts of time. I've just enjoyed playing but I honestly never came across that situation before. The stalemate. I know what perpetual check is. (actually on reason I joined your clan is to learn more.) I don't mind constructive criticism and advice.
Thanks
