I blame the media... they seem to blow every little scientific study out of proportion just so they can get more readers and make more money.

It's a very fine line for sure. I remember watching a documentary about the Mercury levels in seafood due to the pollution of the oceans, particularly tuna I believe, and the dangers to people who consume lots of seafood products. So I guess it's damned if you do damned if you don't kind of thing.
