I want to add this opening to my repertoire. I have played through some lines suggested in De Firmian's MCO but I lack some basic ideas and plans.
I think this opening is more about that than just learning lots of variations.
So please tell me your experiences with it, and some plans, possibly games from here...
Thanks

Originally posted by MislavI gave up on it after this game because it's too hard for Black to get counterplay. If White had played 17.Na4, Black would have been in a really passive position. Also, 19.Nxd6 would have been a good try. Not the kind of game you want to find yourself in with 700 rating points on your opponent.

Yes..he resigned a bit premature.
Originally posted by masscatI agree it's hard for black to get counterplay, but the opening seems very playable especially OTB when white has limited time and finding a plan to crack black's very solid position can be very hard.

In your game, in my opinion 11... c5 was probably premature, and I guess there was something better than 15... b4.

[Aside to masscat: what was the reason for your king move at 14 in Game 1054957?]
Originally posted by MislavI had never heard that before. I knew that by the time the endgame rolls around, it is often best to have a centralized king, but I didn't know that it was wise to do it that early in the game.

Originally posted by Paul DiracMaybe you were confused by the fact that there were stil lots of pieces on the board. But as white's king position is safe it's normal to centralize him.
