Mine happens to be the clearance sacrifice. The is an awesome exaple in one of the games from Bronstein's Zurich 1954 book but I can't recall which (of course, it also involved a few other tactics along the way, but that stood out).

What's a clearance sacrifice? Is that when you give up, say, a knight in order to break up that annoying pawn chain your opponent's got going?

It is when you sacrifice a piece in order that one of your other pieces may occupy the square that it was inhabiting. (visiting mate or other horrible tactics upon the enemy). I suppose it may not be a proper tactic, but they sure are impressive.
