The gist is there are two generators of rain, ocean based evaporation leading to rain and land based generators, forests, plants and such evaporating leading to rain but that source produces less rain that ocean based rain systems so knowing that it helps the planning of farms and the need for local water such as in the US midwest which now is draining the Ogallala Aquifer. So the gist there seems to be don't build farms where the expected rain comes from forests and other land based plants evaporating to the atmosphere.
@sonhouse; You're right,I believe reason number one is the world increasing populations,at present over 8 billions and no sign of slowing down.
@cosmic-energy4 saidWell as far as increasing population is concerned, I am ancient, approaching 100, not there yet but the gist of that is I won't live to see the fall of humankind which might start up maybe 100 years from now due to the communal greed of the whole planet, to damned DUMB to get off their asses and get with the Paris accords, so far less than 1/4 of them are following the program the rest go SCREW ALL OF YOU, we want MONEY.... So a correction IS coming and the question there is will the world population be able to squeeze inland when beach front property is ten feet underwater. The big debate right now is if the future is a new ice age or passing some positive feedback loop ending up with a 2 or 3 degree C increase in average temps. I think its a bit soon to see which way the wind blows till it becomes obvious. It IS obvious mankind is increasing CO2 to record levels but there are these asssholes keep denying any human caused climate change since they say humans are WAY too insignificant to screw up climate on the whole planet.

Their grand kids or great grandkids are going to be REALLY PISSED when they find out grampa was a climate denier.
@sonhouse; I'm 83 years old my self, I don't think a ice age is in horizon definitely not before our planet get cooked first.
@cosmic-energy4 saidAh, a young punk🙂 I beat you by a YEAR🙂 I am a 1941 model myself. But there is some latest science saying we may be wrong about a coming heat wave, there is some evidence it may swing the other way. Here is a small piece about that:
@sonhouse; I'm 83 years old my self, I don't think a ice age is in horizon definitely not before our planet get cooked first.
"Recent science suggests Earth is naturally moving toward its next ice age, which is predicted to begin in about 10,000 to 11,000 years, but human-caused climate change is currently preventing this from happening. The long-term natural cycle is being disrupted by current warming trends, with some research also identifying a potential flaw in the carbon cycle that could lead to a future overshoot, either delaying the ice age or potentially triggering a much larger, faster freeze if greenhouse gas emissions were to be rapidly removed. The consensus is that immediate climate action is necessary, as these natural cycles are not a substitute for addressing the ongoing warming from human activity.
Natural climate cycles
A recent study analyzing Earth's orbital patterns and axial tilt suggests that a natural cycle was pushing Earth toward its next ice age, with the onset expected around 10,000 to 11,000 years from now.
This prediction is based on a precise correlation between Earth's orbital wobble and its tilt, which together regulate long-term climate patterns and have triggered ice ages and interglacial periods in the past.
Impact of human activity
Delaying the ice age: The current and projected effects of human-driven climate change, such as rising global temperatures from greenhouse gas emissions, are overriding this natural cycle. Scientists agree that the warming effect is delaying the onset of the ice age.
Future risk: While human activity is delaying the natural ice age, some models suggest that a flaw in the carbon cycle could lead to a feedback loop. If human emissions were to cause a large-scale cooling overshoot, it could potentially trigger an ice age far sooner than natural cycles would suggest."
If that scenario played out that would only happen centuries from now but either way humanity gets screwed. Universal greed will kill mankind or run us back to Neanderthal times.
Of course neither one of us will be around to see it. 3 of my family, mom, grandma and a great grandpa lived 100 years or older so I have a chance of seeing my second century and of course I could be hit by a helicopter on my way to work too🙂 Never can tell.
Hey, just saw your rating, nice. I am WAY back, only 1700 or so. I saw your game with Junnujannu ending in a draw. Your bishop under attack and a possible knight fork maybe but if you moved your bishop under attack what makes it a draw? The only thing I saw was move your bishop so where is the attack saying you have to give him a draw?
@sonhouse; My son is much beter player then me he analyzed the game and suggested to offer a draw because he uses a chess artificial intellgence.
@cosmic-energy4 saidDo you play or used to play OTB? Did you ever get an ACF or Glicko-2 rating? Not sure if USCF uses Glicko but the weird part for me is my USCF and RHP rating are very close, less than 50 points apart, and I always assumed there would be a big difference between RHP and USCF ratings, I guess I am an outlier.
@sonhouse; My son is much beter player then me he analyzed the game and suggested to offer a draw because he uses a chess artificial intellgence.
I do bullet on Lichess and run around 1400 there and they certainly keep me on my toes🙂
Does your son play OTB now? What did he reach? IM?
@sonhouse; I learn to play chess from my grandfather at the age of 13 and competitions at military school for four years and escaped from my old country 'ROMANIA' et the age of 17 and I came to Australia in 1961. I only started to play on line after I retired.I never took part in any competitions, now I'm too old and not too healthy.
@cosmic-energy4 saidDid they play chess in military school? I did one year tech school in the USAF, back in '63 and my work base we played simul, and I won most of the games but the chief said, let some of them win🙂 They get gifts. So I had a GF who was a strong player and we started simul some 20 players, I play a move, go to next board, Gail plays behind me, that dude moves, she make a move and we went around the board like that and all of a sudden the simul was getting very popular🙂

@sonhouse; Yes we did but between cadets expecially in winter,we did verry few things outdoor in winter.
@cosmic-energy4 saidI can believe that for sure. When I was in USAF training, very techy stuff, when I went into the classroom the first time I saw the system schematic about over a meter in height and about 20 meters long, wrapping around three walls, I was thinking to myself, what have I gotten into🙂
@sonhouse; Yes we did but between cadets expecially in winter,we did verry few things outdoor in winter.
Then about 3/4 the way through, I got really sick, almost passed out in class so a couple of buddies took me out to the infirmary and I was whisked to a hospital, I somehow contacted influenza and I was almost delirious for a couple of days but when I got enough better to get out of bed I met a dude who taught me GO. That guy turned out to be an Army general. I had no idea about that, he was a really nice dude and treated me like an equal.
So 2 weeks later, back in class, had to make up that two weeks and when I took the final exam, I am in my bed and my buddies come by, Don, you ACED the test. I said NO WAY🙂 Yep, you aced it. So I got a weekend pass. I go to my first sarg, so I will take off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. He goes Nay, 3 day pass means you get off Friday, so Saturday and Sunday are the rest of your three days. I was thinking to myself, all that study for a ONE day pass.
@Martin; I don't have to but I decided to to give you a response.1. last game we played you lost on time out.I have no control over the outcome, the site notice wase 'TIME OUT' there for me the game was over and i clicked 'ARCHIVES' If you knew that you could not make the move you should of notifyed me or you should of taken 'VACATION' time.2 You moe or less acuse me of cheatting.Beacouse I notice your obsetion with winnings and ratings I prepared to invite to two games and I resign on third move.
