Neil deGrasse Tyson, an African American astrophysicist, is one of the
scientists most widely known to the American public, given that he
has hosted popular science programs on television.

National Geographic has suspended his television program following
allegations of sexual misconduct (ranging from unwelcome sexual advances
to rape) from four (so far) women (including a professor of physics).

"The sexual misconduct allegations against Neil deGrasse Tyson, explained.
Tchiya Amet went public with allegations against Tyson in 2010. Why is her story only getting attention now?"

"“He is a black astrophysicist and there’s hardly any, and he has this charismatic, charming side,”
she explained. “People are having a hard time accepting my story.”
--Tchiya Amet (who has accused Tyson of raping her)

"She said he offered her a drink of water in a cup made of a coconut shell.
The next thing she knew, she said, she was naked on his bed, and
he was performing oral sex on her. When he saw that she had awoken,
she said, he got on top of her and began penetrating her.
Then, she said, she passed out again."

"White women have long been taken more seriously than women
of color when they speak up as part of #MeToo."

Like Bill Cosby was, Neil deGrasse Tyson has been hailed as a role model for black men.
But his popularity or scientific credentials cannot excuse what he allegedly did to women.

Another hero/mentor down the tubes. I am shocked.
