So I can't say which effect we are talking about because I could not read the whole thing.
But it does say ' thicken on a molecular level' but doesn't say if that is a viscosity thing or a literal thickening, getting larger.

which implies they are talking about the width. I had no problems reading the article, it sounds as if the browser on your device isn't completing the download.
@DeepThought Yes, I use chrome and the little circle thing above the piece just keeps circling. But why just that one site?
Used IE and went to phys.org and it works fine there. What's up with that? Chrome working everywhere but one site while IE doesn't have that problem.....
