It would be useful to me to be able to right click on an empty square
and have the option to have it change to a contrasting color like red
or blue.
It might be a square that I'm trying to cover. I can change it's color and then figure out how to get there, or it might be a square I'm trying to avoid so I can change it's color and then not make the mistake of putting a piece there.
Would anyone else find this option useful?

An feature in Analyze Board I would have more is to show a history of moves in algebraic form, and building up a tree structure from this.

I'm trying to gain support here. It seems to me that the option I'm proposing would be useful to more people.

Well, my impression has been that most email chess players play it pretty much as if it were an OTB game that they just happen to be able to play asynchronously in their spare time. It may be that the fellows who really want to analyze deeply are relatively rare. :-)
Me, I keep copies of all my games on DBSchess and use it for my analysis board. But, it doesn't allow me to mark squares in different colors, either. :-(
Good luck! :-)
