What a daring person! Who could be so bold as to flirt with damnation! If the priest had accidentally served him...I shudder to think of the consequences. Wasn't Evel Kinevel, was it?

I see it reasonably regularly where I work. Maybe whatever your diocese
or parish priest does not emphasize it as an option available to those who
are at Mass.

I know. According to LH, if you take Holy Communion (defined, of course, to be communion in a Catholic church) without being Catholic, you are risking committing a mortal sin. If those are truly the stakes, it would really take some balls to approach the altar, even for a blessing. Priests have been known to force worse things into unsuspecting mouths than communion wafers.

Nemesio
Actually it was various diocese and parishes (and states) but no, I doubt the parish priests ever mentioned it. The never did at the masses I attended.

1. Holy Communion = Eucharist at any church with valid orders
2. According to the Catholic Church, not me.
3. Catholics in a state of mortal sin run the same risk.
Over-simplification is fun for sound-bites; if you're serious about debating you've got to be precise and get your facts right.
