So, to improve, we need to understand what is good and bad in what it means to be human; in other words, what needs to be improved?

I think maybe we should start from a basis of acceptance, appreciation, and understanding before we ask about improvement or development in any direction.

I'm not sure that self-cultivation to dissolve oneself and leave the material/mental world behind is necessarily the right approach, and perhaps it could be said that such an approach to life is rather unappreciative.

Can not improve if you don’t know what good is.

We might have already arrived at a philosophical impasse. 😉

You cannot tell me to let us go up without a fixed point that we can rise above. You cannot tell me a fixed point in humanity that doesn’t include God. All you can offer is an opinion that billions of others may share some part of, but in the end, differ from one another. So the fixed point has to be something outside of us, just as justice has to be something outside of us, hope will be something from the outside of us, if we rely on ourselves we stand apart from all others and hope to make connections that depend upon ourselves to maintain, many times that is done through force and corresioon.

Have you ever watched Jordon Peterson’s talk about Zebras? It covers this well, and not long, I will look for it and post if you want.

It is also important to understand that we evolved as a species and didn't start our journey in original sin.

That is one narrative that can not exsplain so much it isn’t even funny.

A perfect description of the Bible.

Hardly, scripture teaches God is the prime reality from which everything owes it beginning. Neither evolution (E) or adiogeneus (A) address that. The laws that dictate the microscopic to galactic forces come from God, E and A don’t address those either. The information storage, the calling out for use, coupled with error checking coming from a brilliant and powerful God is explaind, but E and A do not.

Just about everything that comes from E and A are justified through circular reasoning. What we know about design and language can explain why an intelligent Being was required, chance and a unguided process only produces an unnatural amount of odds that must be overcome. So possible imaginary hypothesis are generated that people use as if they were looking at something evidential.

No, I despise Jordan Peterson and think he's a self-important blowhard.

Similar to "Scripture teaches us this and that" we could also say "Trump says a lot of things."

I do appreciate your trotting out a fifty-dollar word like "adiogenesis", though.

It's at least quite a hodge-podge of assertions, isn't it?

Abiogenesis, misspelled it, my bad, if you were unfamiliar with it. I assume you grasped the point nonetheless.
