The BBC has some sports themes which have been running for decades, Match of the Day, Ski Sunday, Grandstand (before they pulled the show), World Snooker. There was also the Formula 1 theme tune before they lost it to ITV. The cricket music was awful but ironically also very catchy, and who could forget the music they use to introduce equestrian pursuit programmes? Only, er, I have.
I'm not saying these are good tunes, but they've become synonymous with some of the sports they introduce. Who can hear the Match of the Day theme tune and not think of football?
It's like hearing the William Tell Overture and not thinking of the Lone Ranger.

Ah, yes, "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac. Very good.
I also have a memory of back in the 1980's the BBC having an NBA highlights programme. The theme tune was excellent. I later found out it was a modified excerpt from Fantasia on Greensleeves by Vaughan Williams. Anyone remember it?
