Not since the 1954 has a team new to F1 finished one-two on their debut, as Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello did for Brawn GP this morning.

What a race!!! Loved it!!!!!! F1 as I have not seen it for years!!!!!

What are your views on the new F1 rules? Did they help make the race more exciting? Are Maclaren/Ferrari/Renault stuffed this year? Can they come back to dominance again or will Brawn GP continue as they have today?

Brawn/Button did it again!!

Anyone have any views on the diffuser issue? BMW appealed again after Maylasia (as a formality) and once again the stewards rejected it. The International Court of Appeal is meeting on the 14th April to get a final ruling. This could screw up the top three teams as things stand.

Are we likely to find that all this success is taken away from one of the most successful deput entries ever?

RESULT!!! - the diffuser design is found to be legal!!

Can Button do it again this weekend? (I think he might)

Can the other teams get thier modified designs on the car and working well soon enough to catch up?

What do you think?

To be honest: yeah i talk to myself often lol

but it was just one final attempt to get this thread working (i was starting to think EVERYONE had me on ignore lol)

Why dont you want Button to win? I think he has had some bad luck over the years and would be happy to see him come good.

Who would you like to win? Do you think the decision on the diffuser today was a good or bad one?

i just don't think button is one of the best drivers in F1, i don't want to see a person with an exceptionally good car winning the championship. that's the reason. kimi, massa, alonso and hamilton are all much better drivers than button. they just happen to be unlucky this year that brawn has a much better car at the moment.

i really can't comment on whether it's fair or not as i don't know enough of the F1 rules and what was different with brawns car to comment. i guess no one can complain if they said it was fair. will be interesting to see how long it takes the other cars to catch up.

i'd like to see massa winning, purley because the other 3 that i've mentioned have already won an F1 title.

i dont think that the car is the only reason he has been winning - although the diffuser obviously has some influence, there are another two teams with them but Button is still beating all four of those drivers (AND Barrichello too, who has the same car) so he has to be a decent driver at the very least in order to be pulling it off two races in a row.

Button is a good driver (ok he is not exceptional but he IS good) - i think he would have had a FAR better record if he had not been dropped for Montoya a few years ago - he has had a duff car ever since.

I am just impressed by the success that Brawn have had - especially since its really just a re-branded Honda and they SUCKED last year lol only two teams below them at the end of the year Force India & Super Aguri (both on 0 points).

At heart i have always been a Ferrari fan, so seeing Massa take it wouldn't be bad either.

i hope hamilton doesnt win another title - the guy is just a robot with no emotions and his dad is such a control freak

i think that now the difusser is legal, brawn gp will have more of a challenge

it isn't a great car off the start line - both have had difficulties

(sorry MCA wasn't ignoring you - i dont normally see much F1 mentioned here but i love the sport)

lol no worries - its not a sport mentioned much here - which is why i persisted with the thread lol.

i agree that now that the other teams can bring thier diffusers it will be a closer fight but i think its going to take more than that to bring Ferrari, Maclaren or Renault back to the top.

i really like some of the changes to the rules this year and hope that it means we will have lots of action this year. if the first race is anything to go by we should be in for a treat this year.

yes, its is definately good to see a new team come in and dominate (as long as they do not do so all year lol)

as mentioned above - they are struggling off the line and that will be a BIG problem once the other cars get thier diffusers running - but it has been a good start and they are making the other teams work for it

seeing force india above ferria makes me smile and with mcclaren just above force idina its amusing

who would have thought that the bottom three constructors would be mcclaren, force india and ferria (in that order)

also will piquet see out the season - i think not, he is more useless than a mole

lol you are right the order is extremely messed up this year - im sure this will change in the next few races but i dont expect either of them to make it back to the top of the ladder before the end of the year.

As for Piquet . . . well I think you give him too much credit calling him a mole. just goes to show that racing is not in the blood after all lol

Qualifying times for today:

1, Vettel(!!), 1:36.184
2, Alonso, 1:36.381
3, Webber, 1:36.466
4, Barrichello, 1:36.493
5, Button, 1:36.532
6, Trulli, 1:36.835
7, Rosberg, 1:37.397
8, Räikkönen, 1:38.089
9, Hamilton, 1:38.595
10, Buemi(!!), 1:39.321

although the fuel weight makes it look like the top three are running light:

1. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 644kg
2. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 637
3. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 646.5
4. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP, 661
5. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 659
6. Jarno Trulli, Toyota, 664.5
7. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 650.5
8. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 673.5
9. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 679
10. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 673

The weights make it look like Barrichello pulled out a great lap and should go longer than everyone in front of him AND Button who is behind.

The diffusers are legal and most of the other teams have brought thiers this time so it should be a closer race.

So whats your thoughts?
