Come up with a test 12 from your country (1970 onwards) who played a significant portion of their careers with facial hair. Not designer stubble but a propper beard or mo.

    Australian Facial Hair 12

    D.Boon
    G.Wood
    I.Chappell
    G.Chappell
    A.Border
    D.Hookes
    R.Marsh
    M.Hughes
    R.Bright
    D.Lillee
    B.Reid

    12th man W.Phillips

Not a bad line up. Three quicks with the left arm bowling of Reid providing variety from the express pace of Lillee and Hughes. Bright and Border get the spin duties and Greg Chappell can bowl a few medium pacers.

    England Facial Hair 12

    G.Gooch
    C.Tavare
    M.Gatting
    A.Lamb
    M. Brearley
    I.Botham
    P.Willey
    D.Bairstow
    C.Old
    M.Hendrick
    S.Harmison

    G.Miller

Brearley is arguably the best post-war captain, 4 classy quicks - with Botham doubling up as #6. Willey is the spinner and #7. And runs keeper Bairstow makes would be a bonus. Top four very solid. I always thought Tavare had a rather unlucky Test career.

Nice team FMF. I was thinking about a keeper for an England side and came up with Jack Russell.

Yes. Good choice. Better than my Bairstow.

And I'll have W.G. Grace opening with Gooch.

Well I wouldn't have put him on the list if that were true.

I think I'd like to try and get Robin Smith in the lineup. Probably instead of Brearley - great captain, but nothing special as a player. Gooch could captain instead.

Good idea about Smith. Seeing big Merv Hughes bowling sandshoe crushers at him again would be fun.
