In rugby I agree with you, but in cricket blatant mistakes and bad calls can easily be cut down by upwards of 95%.
The action is easier to follow by cameras nd we even have audio sometimes.
There might still be inconclusive evidence and this will always give the benefit of the doubt to the batsmen.
There really is no comparison between the sports and the same goes for the 'third umpire decisions'...

Also, TMOs don't always need to (though they often do) spend minutes and countless replays to make a decision.
I do get very frustrated in both cricket and rugby when the first replay shows something conclusively yet the TMO checks a few more angles just to ... be safe?
