Who cares about the Melbourne Cup? He won the Derby, for Christ's sake!

It's like comparing a victory in the Premiership and a victory in the World Championship.

You are correct eagle mountian was returned the 6/1 2nd fav, but I would be suprised if it was 14/1 on the day? I think it was backed in from 9/1 generally (so possibly 10/1 in places on the course but unlikely on the betting shop show) Archipenko was 3rd fav at 13/2,

Are you also saying the Derby is your greatest horse race?

It was when chatting to my old man yesterday he said about seeing it 14's early doors. I didn't look around as I knew where my money was going, so he may well have been spinning a yarn.

The English Derby is the greatest and most important race of the year for the horse racing establishment, there's no doubt about it.

Ask an owner if he'd like to win the Derby or the Melbourne Cup and he'll watch you like if you asked him the most silly of questions.

There's no comparison with other world wide races packed with money to attract horses from all over the globe, just like the Breeder's Cup, Dubai World Cup, Hong Kong Cup and Melbourne Cup................the race amongst races is the Epsom Derby.
    Period.
