    Go Phillies in 2010!
    Halladay's no doubt the best.

Who are the next best though. Off the top of my head, the 2 that come to my mind are Jimmy Key and Dave Steib; but I'm sure you'd know better than I would.

I hope you're kidding about the go Phillies thing...You're still a Blue Jays fan, dude. It's odd how teams often get better after their superstar leaves. Don't lose hope!

Of course I'm still a Blue Jays fan but I don't expect much from our team in the next two or so years. But I will always cheer for Roy whenever he's pitching. Truly a legend and a class act all around.

Re: Best Blue Jay pitchers. Dave Steib would be #2 on that all-time list. Jimmy Key or Pat Hentgen would be #3. Can't slack on the Rocket either. He had two amazingly enhanced years on the Jays.

    Hoping for the best!

Halladay will get 25 wins next season and become the baseball god he always was. Out of the toughest division in baseball and playing with a good team finally.

25 wins. You heard it here first.

I'll take half your action shorty. I don't see a 25 game winner in the near future.

Not so fast, my friend. Jack Morris did well for you - two WS championships witha series MVP. Dave Stieb wasn't too shabby as well.

Take a look at therecord book for career Blue Jay stats:

    Most Wins: 175, Dave Stieb
Lowest ERA: 3.42, Jimmy Key and Dave Stieb
    Strikeouts: 1658, Dave Stieb
    Complete Games: 103, Dave Stieb
    Saves: 217, Tom Henke

The single season records are as follows:

Most Wins: 22, Roy Halladay (2003)
Lowest ERA: 2.05, Roger Clemens (1997)
Most Strikeouts: 292, Roger Clemens (1997)
Most Appearances: 89, Mark Eichhorn (1987)
Complete Games: 19, Dave Stieb (1982)
    Saves: 45, Duane Ward (1993)

Don't see a lot of Halladay in those numbers....might I say - overrated?

You can't look at raw career numbers to assess a pitcher.

Halladay was, year in and year out, one of the top few pitchers in the best division in baseball. He is a great, great pitcher.

Jack Morris spent only a short time with Toronto. He's an all time great Twin, not an all time great Blue Jay. The Jays had some good teams in the 1980s and Steib was their ace and a really good pitcher. But he was no Roy Halladay.

Morris spent two years in toronto and one in minnesota. He is not an all time great for either team

Dave Stieb played 19 years for the Jays. Halladay played 11. Stiebe played during the lean years of the AL East. Halladay played during its heyday.

Had Halladay played next eyar, he would have broken the strikeout record. Had he played another 2 years, he would have broken the win record. His career ERA was 3.43, 0.01 less than Stieb. And he pitched 49 CGs in an era when a great pitcher is lucky to get 2 or 3 a year. Appearances and Saves are relief stats. I don't even know why you cited them.

If you say that Roy is overrated, you are just plain wrong.

I'll say it again, in case you still doubt - Greatest Blue Jay pitcher ever.

    you're making that classic mistake.

Stats dont' tell you the whole story. Halladay played on a bunch of crap teams with the Jays.

Don't compare stats. Compare greatness. Halladay is by far the best pitcher the jays ever had pitching for them. Clemens no. 2. Steib no. 3.
