From the squad he announced he's got a choice of Johnson, Bent or Defoe.

I'd guess he'll play Johnson and Defoe, bringing Bent on for the last 20 minutes to try and break the inevitable scrappy 0 - 0 draw that England always seem to find themselves in.

I would like to see Crouch and Johnson. Crouch has a good record for England. Johnson is annoying but effective.

Yes, he's suspended. That's why he wasn't played from the start in last week's friendly - no point prepring for a competitive match with a combination you can't use.

what about playing johnson and gerrard for a change and leave the midfield as it was against germany?

that way we have got 2 people who know where the goal is and no problems with the gerrard, lampard clash that everyone keeps going on about!!!

How can Gerrard play against Chelsea two weeks ago yet not be fit for England nest week?

If Lampards cries off too, it would be good to see:

Downing, Cole, Hargreaves and Wright Phillips across the middle.

I'd like to see SM adopt Mike Bassett's team selection policies..... does anyone know of 2 strikers called Benson & Hedges???
