    Two questions.

    1. Should Capello hand the captaincy to Vice-Captain Rio-I'm-so-cool-it's hard-to-concentrate-Ferdinand?

    2. If not, who would you choose?

And England football continues enslaved by their own popular media.

Edit - Didn't Capello say that he sees no reason to change his choices? Rio is captain...at least until the next media story.

    1. I wouldn't even take the 'I believe my own publicity' Rio to South Africa - the bloke's an absolue joke.

    2. I think Capello has to take the armband off JT (how can a player be expected to respect a Captain that might end up shagging his missus?)

Rooney's still too hot-headed for the armband - the only obvious choice would be Stevie G in my opinion.

    ...or Frank Lampard.

Terry out, Rio in. So ya'll Brits out there. Explain, please. Yank papers leave lots out. So is Terry off the squad or is he simply relinquishing the armband? If so a symbolic gesture which will accomplish nothing at all. Why is it any of Capello's business where Terry parks his gonads in any case? Capello chased quite a bit of tail in his day and probably still does, but has the good sense of staying away from controversial phallic garages. Italians partake of bumpin uglies like rabbits and the bonds of matrimony never seemed to get in the way of a wee bit phallic fun! I find the whole thing hypocrisy at its best!

ok one pundit said "the england captain should be squeaky clean" others agree... most of the media i've watched/read (which i'll admit wasn't a lot here ) agreed terry should be replaced as captain. personally and about 70% of the people who are not english that i've talked to about this (which has been about 10 ) thinks it doesn't matter what terry did off the pitch as he's the best choice for the role on it. who cares that he cheated on his wife? what does it concern anyone other than his family? no one.

if i was bridge (the player who was going out with the girl) i'd be blaming the girl who he's not going out with anymore anyway and who has been with a few footballers...

but i suspect even though it will Rio (if he's fit) wearing the armband in south africa terry will remain the vocal point in the defense.

big who-ha over some tramp that threatens to effect a nations soccer world cup. only in england. he got a pat on the back from the fa and media (capello) but i think he's seriously dented england's chances at the world cup.

Sadly in this 24/7 news cycle the media thrives on scandal to sell copy! Lots of athletes behave poorly off the field. Short of murder or more serious misbehavior like domestic violence who cares. Rio's misbheavior is worse by far abusing drugs and all. I hope this destabilizes a squad with strong chances and team USA beats their sorry hineys!
