Stephen Colbert just did a segment on Soccer asking whether or not we should start to care about the game now that we're good at it. Alexi Lalas was the guest.
That win over Spain was significant in raising awareness of the game here in the states.

Anyway, having the USA involved in a sport is a good thing. All those fat-assed people helping push marketing revenue into a sport is great.
I hope the US starts focussing more on rugby and cricket too...

Ten million soccer moms can't be wrong.
I was happy that the USA beat Spain -- such an upset, it can only be good for the sport.

'Good at it'?
You've just lost twice to Brazil, and once to Italy....and beat Egypt and Spain - when and how did that ever qualify any side to be 'good at it'???!!!!
There's a lot of people getting things out of perspective on here.
I didn't have a chance to see the match but I heard the US played an excellent game. Good to see some significant progress from a country which really could be a force at the world's most loved sport, if only they got around to loving it as the rest of us do. Let's hope it continues.
