You guys are missing my point.

Assuming he knows he can beat the WR on any given day, can it be possible that he is holding back enough so that there's a good chance he'll get the WR again at the next meet?

    It is very likely.

Oh well, at least I would aim to that goal.

A possibility, but i doubt it.

The guy is incredibly wealthy now, whats an extra $100,000 to him every year?

I just don't think 'holding back', as you put it, is that easy in the 100m or 200m. He's good, but no that good.

He's lowered the 100m record by 1.64% (inc Beijing), that's the equivalent of running the 400m in 42.47s.

It had better not be another Ben Johnson saga ....

Flo-Jo's record is pretty suspect too.

I'm sure Bolt's top priority right now is to run as fast as possible and set a record that will stand for decades to come.

In sports, you can't assume anything -- who knows what kind of injuries may occur? - and who knows whether you're at your peak and will never be as good as you are on that day. He probably regretted easing up at last year's olympics.

That's a horrible thought - my kids worship him. I hope he's clean otherwise the world will give up on athletics.

Its scary when you think of it

10.43 metres every second or just over 23.3 miles per hour.

I think he may be able to do 9.4 seconds for the 100 meteres in due course

You really think the World would give up on athletics if a Jamaican sprinter tested positive for performance enhancers?

And has been on them since his mid-teens? Seems unlikely.

(I say mid-teens because he's been putting in ridiculous times for his age-group since he was about 16 - possibly before).
