Grunfeld Thematic

Just wondering why the recent Grunfeld Thematic is for players over 1800 only, when they struggled to fill the 1800+ Grunfeld Banded duel.

I don't understand the banded thematic tournaments at all. Rather pointless.

Surely the idea is to allow everyone an opportunity to compete against those at their level.

That's the idea behind the banded part, not the thematic part. Only a small percentage of players are above 1800 here, and most of them know how to practice and study the openings they want to use.

Look's like it's no longer just 1800+, it's now open to anyone. 😀
