Wish I could go, looks like fun. How does one get rated nationally? I only play at RHP, but I guess these are not accepted ratings for outside competition.

First you would need to become a member of USCF. Then you could either play 25 games at a local (USCF) club to get an established rating, or just enter the unrated section of this tourney(if they have one).

Its hard to compare live chess ratings to here as some players in CC will be using the analysis feature more than others + opening databases.
