Hi Wolfie.
Here: (Black to play)
His 7...a6 is a typical Blitz Blunder (I've even seen the same thinking in OTB games).
Black can see the threat (Bb5+) and quickly thinks 7...a6 stops it.
Of course it does not stop the Queen winning Bb5+ check.
The RHP database:
http://www.redhotpawn.com/gamesexplorer/index.php?movelist=&flip=0&co=-&u=-1&c=1400
Has a few games with this line including games where Black played
the risky biscuits move of 5...Qd4 holding onto the pawn. (see below).
Hi Robbie.
"...the elephant gambit which is considered advantageous for white."
Good advice about having a line v The Elephant (though 2...c6 can also swing it into a Caro Kann).
The Elephant at the lowers level tends to score OK because the Black player
usually has an idea (a bit of theory) of what is going on.
Often the White player is playing against it for the very first time.
The RHP player Medievalist
User 379039 scored well with this opening
as Black winning 35 games, drawing 7 and losing 13.
This includes an instructive win v a player I rate quite highly, Swiss Toni.
Game 8035969
Swiss T. hangs a piece (as we all do) - Black sacs it back (as we should do) to open up the White King.
Here Black to play:
Swiss Toni - Medievalist RHP 2011
Black fell under the illusion he could not take the e4 Knight due to Re1.
But 16...Qxe4 17.Re1 Rh1+ mops ups. Black played 16...0-0-0 but stlll won.
A game with ideas for Wolfie.

1. Nf3 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Ng5 Nf6 4. Bc4 e6 5. Nc3 Qd4 {Your tricky blitz move 5.d3 can be answered here with 5...Bb4.} 6. Qe2 Nc6 7. O-O Bc5 8. Ncxe4 Nxe4 9. Nxe4 {Now we have a Queen in the centre of the board protecting a Bishop....."I see trouble ahead."} 9... O-O {9....Be7 to relieve the Queen of defensive duty was the move.} 10. c3 {A Black pieces is now lost because the Queen cannot desert the c5 Bishop.} 10... Qe5 11. d4 Nxd4 12. cxd4 Bxd4 13. Rd1 c5 14. Qd3 Rd8 15. Be3 b6 {Hello a8 Rook sitting all alone on an open diagonal.} 16. Ng5 {Yes...} 16... g6 {Now how's about the pseudo sac 17.Nxf7 Kxf7 18.Bxd4 and Qf3+ picking up the newly exposed a8 Rook, opening up the Black King and pocketing a pawn or two. Any good? Or is it playing a combo simply for the sake of playing a combo. "I played it because t was there."} 17. Nf3 {OK. Just as good. It prompts a blunder combo from Black.} 17... Qf6 {Tempting White to play...} 18. Bg5 Bxf2+ 19. Kxf2 Qxb2+ 20. Qe2 {There is of course that move. Black resigned.}
