I subscribed to RHP (yay!), entered the KID tournament and then withdrew because I don't know how fair it is to the other players. What is everyone's take on a provisional (whose rating is a fair bit higher than p1200) entering tournaments before at least 20 games? I have no problem waiting until my given rating better reflects, I mean, I don't want to sandbag any points or anything. Any input will be appreciated.

Most of us won't mind, unless it's a banded tournament of course ... 🙂

    Go ahead and enter.

Then in a few weeks, when your rating is 1700, we can have a thread in here moaning about 1700's playing in 1200-1300 banded tournaments lol

    😀

    No worries with non-banded tournies.

The easiest way to get rid of your p rating is by entering a couple of tournies. Losing to a p player doesn't hit your rating all that hard anyway.

I think banded tournaments are tournaments that are restricted to a ratings range. On the tournaments page, I see an August banded 0-1200, and then an August banded 1200-1400, an August banded 1400-1600, and an August banded 1600+, where the number refer to ratings. So if you would like to play other players in your own ratings class/band, you can choose the appropriate tournament. At least that's what I think they are.
