12 days later - have they been banned yet?

Only because they get deleted before they have a chance.

Or perhaps because no one can be bothered if nothing happens.

The way I see it we need to do it all ourselves in the clubs so if you are a worthy and genuine player who can withstand scrutiny you know where to come.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Several obvious cheats have been reported and are still here. Its annoying and a reason why people just start thinking why should I bother?

Using the clubs will not work.

What do you do with the suspected cheat or cheats?

Report them - little seems to be happening.
Remove them from the club? Big deal they join another or just don't bother with clubs.

Maybe the removed players list should be reinstated but only for players removed for cheating. It could be renamed the Cheating Buggers Hall of Shame.

Let the community see action is being taken.

Looking at your recently finished games, I see several people that look like "engineers". But the one guy who says in his profile that he just learned to play, but his rating goes straight up... Looks VERY fishy to me.
I believe you're refering to me Eldaveer. I updated my profile "about me" section to address your concerns.

"I just started playing chess and I'm still not sure how all the pieces move correctly, he he he. I couldn't beat Bobby Fisher's unborn child, lol." 8/4/08 update. I wrote this section over 2 years ago when I first joined and my rating was set @ 1200. I've been playing chess since I was 12. I'm 48 now. I have 38 chess books, 19 of them on the opening alone. Of course my rating has been steadily going up. I had a hard time getting people to play me when I 1st joined and I couldn't sign up for any tournaments until after I played 20 games, hence the sarcastic "about me" section.

I was trying to sucker some higher rated players into playing me so I could quickly increase my rating. It's taken me over 2 years to get my rating where it is. I keep my number of games being played to 20 or less so that I can properly analyze the games on a chessboard and analysis board. I am also fortunate to live in Orlando and get to play in some tournaments against some very good players. I've also lost and drawn games on this site against lower rated competition. I don't think that would happen if I was using a computer.

I'd also add, the people who have very high power needs (cheaters) are those who aren't getting enough love - so they need lots more power to compensate.

Hitler is the ultimate example of this - no-one loved him (except Eva Braun, who was an empty-headed bimbo, and his dog Blondi.) So he had to make himself a brutal dictator to compensate for ...[text shortened]... sad as Hitler. No-one loves them, cheating is the closest they can come to feeling happy...
Looks like everyone ignored your tongue-in-cheek remark.
I found it laugh out loud funny!
