A very good assessment of Obama's uselessness: http://atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/syria-the-congressional-angle

What massacres has Assad committed in the last few days?

Spy satellites are mapping every detail of Syria. Constant surveillance. He won't gas again. He doesn't dare. Obama CAN strike at will without Congress, if he chooses to make that decision.

Assad's massacre methods are pinned. No need to take them yet.

And every tempo brings more material to bear down on the pinned enemy.

Obama's Putin's b*? Well so is Kasparov. A couple of foolish, weak, incompetent losers to Putin's super-manliness. Right?

Shelling has resumed, so people are dying again. No gas depends on whether something is done. If nothing is done, he'll dare ... Yes, he can, but does he want to, or is he just kicking the can down the road? You'd think if he was serious about his red line (which has made him a laughing stock) there'd be a plan in place in the event of it being crossed, but no, apparently there wasn't. US support has been limited to small arms and rations ... not even gas masks. But here's hoping he actually does something -- in a week, when Congress convenes.

Meanwhile, it seems that defections from SANA are increasing, while opposition is gaining ground. Defections perhaps owing to gas pictures.

Kasparov isn't a president. If he was one, and was consistently made to look foolish by Putin, then he'd be Putin's b*.

As for Putin, here is the unpleasant truth: http://boingboing.net/2013/08/28/russian-police-seize-putin-me.html

Here comes the first supercarrier. The USS Nimitz battlegroup is heading in that direction.

I, for one, hope that opposition forces can take sufficient advantage of the confusion (moving launchers around the country, billeting troops in schools, etc) caused by Obama almost ordering a strike to obviate the need for one.

Here is a hopeful report (unsubstantiated of course, everything is unsubstantiated, in fact the images are fabricated by Mossad agents who infiltrated the CIA in the 70s and ended up taking over half of Hollywood before joining the Church of Scientology): https://www.facebook.com/mrwootwoot/posts/10151838578785289?ref=notif&notif_t=like

    Bigger Brother is watching.

Another chemical attack and the video will be on the news immediately. State of the art quality, the kind of videocameras only the US government has access to.

Obama do you think you'll drop the bomb?
Obama do you think they'll like this song?
Obama do you think you'll try to break Assad?

    .....

Obama will you put him in the firing line?
    Obama is Assad really dying?

Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry.
Obama's gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Obama's gonna put all of our fears into you.
Obama's gonna keep you right here under his wing.
He wont let you fly, but he might let you sing.
Obama will keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooooh baby ooooh baby oooooh baby...

Obama do you think he's bad enough -- to die?
Obama do you think he's dangerous...?
Obama will you tear that little man apart?

    ......

Hush now baby, baby dont you cry.
Obama's gonna check out all their movements for you.
Obama wont let anyone dirty get through.
Obama's gonna wait up until they get in.
Obama will always find out where they've been.
Obama's gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Ooooh baby oooh baby oooh baby...

Obama, did it need to come from so high?

Apologies for incomplete lyrics, I tried

Mount Kassioun, which overlooks the city and has been used by the 4th division to shell rebel positions in the suburbs, was said to have been completely evacuated. Instead, artillery had been deployed in residential districts and aimed at the mountain amid growing fears that the rebels could take the stronghold.

At least some of his artillery has been neutralized.

    Oops never mind:

Within hours, some elite units of the Syrian military returned to Mt. Kassioun to resume shelling opposition areas.

tanks had been dispatched from the international airport to surrounding villages.

The airport is less well defended against infantry assault now. If they take it they need to destroy it though, not occupy it like they did in Libya. Unless of course the tanks went back.

Well now that artillery and those tanks make good targets again.

I take it that the primary target and the one furthest removed from civilians would be the desert airbase.
