I don't know if she's secretly reading my messages here, but I'll probably know soon enough... 😛

Another incidental thread from coquette's genii in the jug lab destined to succeed in living a long and enjoyable life. Is it because human beings find pleasure in the friction of going against the grain, because of its minimal format or is it magic?

All good posits, GB

All may be so

Maybe, tho, all are wrong

Here's what I think:

1. A "Do not. . ." thread automatically triggers oppositional impulses, and as chess is an adversarial game, this theme harmonizes at a deep character level that triggers a reactive response

2. A negative "Do not. . . " thread allows for an unlimited number of variants. Negative orders challenges others to act both in compliance and defiance. Either response sustains the thread

3. Bumping in defiance releases a slight dose of dopamine at only a miniscule metabolic and time cost

4. Once the hunt is on, the horn sounded, the herd cannot help but join in the chase of the elusive fox

Hmm... quite an interesting delineation of the possible dynamics in play.
Do you think there may also be an unintended subliminal x-factor?

You bet, the X factor is the main one (i wasn't about to admit it openly, but now that you've put it out there, laying it right on the table, revealing everything, showing it all)

onamatapoetic that compound expression is, is it not?
