Sure. For example, although the daft Hesse quote was offered in English, you've got Ponderable now talking about translating the key word differently to make it less daft, and you've got Grampy Bobby talking about replacing the the key word with a word that means something completely different. These are two examples of how language and meaning is easily "twisted". 🙂

Here are three concise on topic quotes for the road:

“Hate is a useless emotion.” ―Carrie Jones, Need

Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated.” ―George Bernard Shaw

Hate is the father of all evil.” ―David Gemmell, Fall of Kings

Thoughts?

None of them withstand much scrutiny in my opinion.

“Hate is often a useless emotion.” ― not Carrie Jones, Need

In certain situations, hatred can be the coward's revenge for being intimidated.” ―not George Bernard Shaw

Hate is behind so many evil deeds.” ― not David Gemmell, Fall of Kings

I am rich. not bill gates or warren buffet rich.
But worth about 2 million quid kinda rich.

Yet I hate everyone including myself.
Steadily drinking myself to death and wondering who to leave my money to.
That's a lot of money...
I wanted to say "leave it to me, you'll be glad you did"
but that wouldn't be right and
I really hate hearing about anyone hating themselves
the way you said you do...

I hope you find peace, amazing things to do with your money
and with really great people, while you live,
and spend it all before you go...

One of my favorite provocative quotes on page three is, "A loving person lives in a loving world.
A hostile person lives in a hostile world: everyone you meet is your mirror."

If quotes are mere dollops of overgeneralizing waffle posing as wisdom, then there's no harm in saying so. They are surely offered for scrutiny and consideration, right? 😉

At least you have plenty of money to keep drinking. I don't.

Yes, but you took these quotes, changed them to *not* mean what they meant, and then said that the person originally quoted did not say the new quote. And then you attempt to bad mouth GB for his quotes, which were correct.

You'll literally go to any lengths to try to make him look bad, won't you?

Well, too bad, this one backfired... right back to you.

Just what is wrong with you, anyways?

You missed my point altogether. The quotes were weak nonsense. I changed them to show how they might then contain some truth.

I'm just offering my ha'penny's worth on a message board chat about "hate". I thought the quotes offered were hokum.
