We are imperfect; that means there's room for improvement. One of the joys of raising a child is being there when it wakes up to its destiny.

Hopefully the improvement in our own character occurs before the child is born;
though some children it appears raise their parents in contemporary times.

I am firmly of the opinion that parents do not raise children; it is the parents who grow up by this process. (Their kids grow up later.)

You are right of course.
But children tend to do what they see done as opposed to what we want them to do... So we still have a big responsability
